Secondo la leggenda, il mercenario Sebastiano Contrario (da cui deriva il detto “bastian contrario”) avrebbe concluso la sua vita proprio a Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena nel 1672 durante la terza guerra tra i Savoia e Genova per la conquista della val Neva. Un buon motivo per far nascere qui un Festival Al Contrario, non convenzionale, che valorizzi questo antico borgo, luogo dell’anima.
Un percorso incentrato sulla riscoperta delle tradizioni e delle profonde radici rurali del luogo, che scommette su un futuro sviluppo economico sostenibile. La natura e lo sport all’aria aperta, coniugati con l’innovazione culturale e tecnologica, l’ecologia, il turismo lento, i giovani e l’imprenditoria ne sono i protagonisti.
Accoglieremo scrittori, artisti visivi, danzatori, attori, economisti, promotori di forme d’arte che di incentivano la comunicazione in presenza; artigiani, maestri di arti marziali, musicisti, testimoni di forme di trasmissione del sapere basate sulla pratica, sull’oralità, sulla memoria.
Il Festival è ispirato dal borgo stesso e dal territorio. Ospiti e artisti, traendo beneficio da una qualità di vita favorevole alla concentrazione, restituiscono al borgo una creazione artistica, un segno, a testimonianza del dialogo fra passato e presente. Gli abitanti del luogo sono in vari modi partecipi e coinvolti.

According to the legend, the mercenary Sebastian Contrario (after which the saying “bastian contrario” derives) would have ended his life in Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena in 1672 during the third war between the Savoy and Genoa for the conquest of the Val Neva. This is a good reason to create here an unconventional Festival Al Contrario, to give grater value to this ancient village, place of the soul.
It is a path around the re-discovery of the traditions and the deep rural roots of the place, which bets on a sustainable economic development in the future. Nature and outdoor sports, combined with cultural and technological innovation, ecology, slow tourism, youth and entrepreneurship are the protagonists of this festival.
We will welcome writers, visual artists, dancers, actors, economists, promoters of art forms that encourage face-to-face communication; artisans, martial arts masters, musicians, all witnesses of forms of transmission of knowledge that are based on practice, orality, and memory.
The Festival is inspired by the village itself and by the territory. Guests and artists benefit from a quality of life that favours concentration, and they give back to the village an artistic creation, a sign, a testament to the dialogue between past and present. The locals are involved and engaged in several ways.
